Welcome to the LBV

In the Coburg region, the non-profit nature conservation association LBV currently has over 3,500 members, including more than 100 active volunteers who not only look after the interests of birds, but also all endangered animals and plants in the district. The Coburg district group looks after over 250 bat cellars, over 400 owl nest boxes and around a dozen stork nests. It also operates a bird of prey sanctuary and a bat shelter. In order to inspire people for nature, the district group is very active in environmental education and offers more than 50 nature events every year. Thanks to a large number of specialists, the Coburg district group is able to research and promote the animal and plant world in the Coburg region.

The district group advocates a "Green Belt" on the former border with the GDR, for more forest conservation and for changes in agriculture. In the more than 20 working groups, excursions are organised, nesting aids are built, birds are nursed back to health, bat quarters are inspected, biotopes are designed in a species-appropriate manner and "insect hotels" are set up. The LBV Coburg pays special attention to the youth work: In four children's groups, even the little ones can explore nature diligently from the club house. In a university group, students are committed to more nature conservation.
